Network Rail Complete Final Dress Rehearsal ahead of Moving New 4,200-tonne Bridge at Clifton

Network Rail has this evening carried out a final dress rehearsal for the weekends moving of the new Clifton Railway Bridge into place, This time-lapse footage provided by Network Rail was filmed this evening during a dress rehearsal for the weekends big move, and shows how Clifton bridge will move into position tomorrow.

The new Bridge will be carried into its new home for the next 120 years by machines called SPMTs (Self-Propelled Modular Transporters) that will very slowly drive the 4,200-tonne structure into place on more than 600 wheels.

Once the new bridge reaches its final location between two piers either side of the M6 the bridge  will be placed with millimeter precision by engineers who will lock the bridge into place to become part of the national rail infrastructure carrying the Westcoast mainline across the M6 at Clifton for the next 120 years.
