Met Office issues Yellow Weather Warning for Snow and Ice as Snow falls across Penrith.

The Met office has issued a Yellow Weather alert for Snow and Ice across Cumbria with the weather warning in place until midnight for the area.
The Alert has been updated to cover an area just west of Penrith with freezing temperatures and snow all day.
Many side roads and paths around Penrith are untreated with icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths this morning. The main roads around and through Penrith along with paths through the centre are clear but care should be taken as fresh now falls across Penrith and freezing conditions continue creating icy patches.
The met office has said further snow showers are expected and may locally be heavy, combining with icy surfaces leading to some disruption to travel and infrastructure.
Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.
