Two Months of Overnight Closures and Daytime Speed restrictions on A66 over Summer

National Highways plan to resurface a section of the A66 west of Scotch Corner over two months that includes the busy peak summer holidays period.

National Highways have said the full traffic management plan for the works that will see speed restrictions and full closures is still being finalised ahead of the work starting on the 1st of July.

The resurfacing work will see the A66 eastbound and westbound between Scotch Corner and Hartforth Junction closed overnight in stages between July 1st and September 9th. The A66 westbound will be closed on weeknights between 8pm and 6am. During the day, a 50mph speed limit will be in place along the section of the A66.

Traffic travelling westbound will be diverted to junction 58 of the A1(M) to use the A68, and A688 with signed diversions for HGVs to avoid the weight restriction in the area.
