MayDay Yellow Weather Warning for Thunderstorms Issued for Cumbria.

The Met office have issued a yellow warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms on for MayDay that will bring a chance of disruption to parts of Cumbria according to the Met Office yellow warning issued this morning. 

The weather warning is in place from 1pm to 9pm and covers Penrith along with most of the North of England south of Scotland and parts of the Midlands and Wales.

The Met Office forecast for Penrith shows the chance of light showers through the rest of the morning for Bank Holiday Monday with the yellow warning for heavy rain and thunder in place between 1pm and 9pm with the potential for 20 to 40 mm rain to fall in some places in an hour or two. This could lead to some localised flowing with risk of power cuts and disruption to transport as a result of the thunderstorm.
