A convoy of tractors will make its way through Penrith and some local villages around the town today as the annual Charity Tractor Run raises money for BEEP Doctors Cumbria.
The tractors will set off from Newton Trailer Centre at 10am this morning, Sunday 23 August, beginning a route which will take them through Penrith before heading into the surrounding countryside and villages.
The event is raising funds for BEEP Doctors Cumbria, with members of the public encouraged to come out and support the convoy as it makes its way around the area.
For anyone wanting to see the tractors, there will be opportunities throughout the day including in parts of Penrith, with the convoy expected to pass through the town and local villages.
The tractors leave Newton Trailer Centre at 10am, travelling through the North of Penrith, before heading up Salkeld Road and Maidenhill.
The convoy will then turn right at the Inglewood Road end, continuing towards Smithy Wood.
At approximately 10.45am, the tractors are expected to pull out from Eden Hall Cottage onto Langwathby Road, before continuing into Langwathby.
On arrival at Langwathby Green, the tractors are expected to stop for around 30 minutes.
This will give spectators an opportunity to see the convoy gathered together, as well as take photographs and look around the tractors.
From Langwathby, the route continues towards **Glassonby**, before turning towards Kirkoswald, where the tractors are expected at approximately 11.45am.
The convoy will pass the edge of Kirkoswald before heading down towards Lazonby, passing the village Co-op.
From Lazonby, the tractors will head towards Thiefside and then join the A6, turning left towards Plumpton.
At around 12.15pm, the convoy is expected in the Plumpton Foot area before crossing the motorway bridge and continuing from the crossroads onto the Calthwaite road towards Penrith.
The route then turns left briefly before taking the right near Aspatria Farmers at Plumpton, heading towards the J41 roundabout.
From Junction 41, the tractors will travel through Catterlen, before turning towards Laithes and continuing to Newton Reigny, where they are expected at approximately 1pm.
Organisers say the best opportunities for spectators to see all the tractors together are at Newton Trailer Centre before the tractors leave, Langwathby Green, and back at Newton Trailer Centre when the tractors return.
Spectators are welcome and there is no charge to attend.
People are being asked, however, to think carefully about where they choose to watch the convoy and to keep themselves and others safe.
With large agricultural vehicles travelling along public roads, spectators should stay well clear of the carriageway, avoid standing on bends or close to junctions and follow any instructions from organisers or marshals.
The published timings are approximate and may change as the convoy progresses.
The event is being held to raise money for BEEP Doctors Cumbria, helping support the charity's work providing emergency medical care.
For those heading out to watch the tractors today, organisers are encouraging people to show their support for the drivers and, where possible, make a donation to the fundraising effort.
With the convoy travelling through Penrith, Langwathby, Glassonby, Kirkoswald, Lazonby, Plumpton, Catterlen and Newton Reigny, there should be plenty of opportunities for people across the area to see the run.
The tractors leave Newton Trailer Centre at 10am today, with the convoy expected to return towards the Newton Reigny area at around 1pm.
