M6 Northbound Closed to all traffic

The M6 Northbound between J39 and J40 is now closed to all traffic.

Diversions via the A6 are now in operation to allow National Highways to carry out emergency resurfacing work on the Northbound Carriageway following a lorry shedding its load of offal on the motorway earlier today resulting in tailbacks of over 7 miles.

National Highways have said “At approx. 12:00 today, a lorry carrying offal shed its load across the carriageway, predominantly in lanes 1 and 2 (of 3). National Highways clean-up crews attended the scene however full carriageway resurfacing is now required.”
