A partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK this morning when the Moon will cover about 30 to 50% of the Sun at its peak.
It will begin at 10:07 in the UK and will end at midday with the expected time of its peak locally around 11.03 with a third of the sun eclipsed.
The weather this morning could be an issue locally with the chances of seeing the eclipse varying depending on where in the UK.
If we get a break in the clouds locally the best time to view will be between 11am and 11:05am
The UK won't see a full solar eclipse for another 65 years, until September 23, 2090, but we will see another partial eclipse on the 12th August 2026.
You must not ever look at the Sun directly, as it can severely damage your eyes, so you will need special eclipse glasses or sunglasses if you're going to take a peek.
If you don't have eclipse glasses, you can create a simple pinhole camera with just two sheets of cardboard or even use a colander to project the Sun's image safely onto the ground.
you can find an easy NASA step by step guide to making a pin hole camera by clicking here to the guide on the NASA site
The Royal Observatory in Greenwich are hosting a live stream of the March 2025 solar eclipse, allowing viewers across the UK to experience the event online in real-time.
