A couple have had a lucky escape as their holiday came to a crashing end after the caravan they were towing on along the A66 broke loose from their vehicle.
The caravan after breaking free from the car was sent careering across the A66 into the embankment just after lunchtime on Sunday.
The couple were heading east in the A66 towards the M6 at Junction 40 when the tow bar on their vehicle came off and the caravan was sent hurting into the embankment at the side of the normally busy A66 and Lay-by.
Police have been called to the incident but there is currently no obstruction to traffic on the A66.
