Weather Warning as Storm Debi is Set to Batter Cumbria with Heavy Rain and 80mph Winds on Monday

A Yellow weather warning has been issued for Cumbria and along with most of Northern England, North Wales and Ireland as Storm Debi, the fourth named storm of the season, is expected to see gales up to 80mph and heavy downpours batter Cumbria on Monday.
Jason Kelly is a Chief Meteorologist with the Met Office. He said: “Storm Debi will develop quickly and bring potentially very strong and damaging winds to parts of the Republic of Ireland, which is why Met Éireann has decided to name the system.”
“The strongest winds are expected to affect parts of the Republic of Ireland early on Monday, possibly coinciding with the morning commute, before then affecting parts of north Wales and northern England into the afternoon. Whilst the very strongest winds will have eased somewhat before reaching the UK, we are still expecting some significant impacts and a wind warning has been issued. Additionally, Debi will bring a period of heavy rain to Northern Ireland for which a combined wind and rain warning has been issued.”
Storm Debi is forecast to being very strong and disruptive winds and heavy rain on Monday with the yellow weather warning in place from 4am Monday morning until 6pm Monday evening.
The warning issued today by the Met Office includes a waring of potential for Storm Debie for cause Injuries and danger to life from flying debris.
Along with the potential of damage to buildings and disruption to road, rail travel that may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.
Power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
Cumbria Police is advising motorists to take extra care on the county's roads tomorrow after the Met Office issued a Yellow weather warning for wind.

Advice issue by Cumbria Police for road users includes, plan ahead for journeys tomorrow, allowing for extra time.
Take extra care and, where possible, avoid exposed areas of the county where the wind could cause the most disruption.
Drive slowly and with extra care and attention.
Please give vulnerable road users including cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians more room than usual.
Officers are also asking drivers of high-sided vehicles to take particular care and to plan routes accordingly to the conditions.
Cumbria Police added that conditions may be particularly impactive during the rush-hour period in the morning.
