Two more Penrith Business Announce Shop Closures.

Wild Ivy Floral Design in Great Dockray has announced on Thursday evening.

After over 5 years, they have decided to step away from the high street and focus on the weddings side of the business as a studio based florist.

Mere Commercial are advertising the property, and Wild Ivy Floral Design has said they will continue to trade until a new tenant is found.

In a short statement Sarah the owner of Wild Ivy Floral Design said “To all my wonderful customers, please carry on as normal, we’re still here with fresh flowers, gifts, houseplants and more.”

Another in a growing list of Penrith business has also announced they have taken the difficult decision to close the doors for good.

Ruby Rea’s preloved baby, toddler and children’s clothing, toys and shoes on Poets Walk have said

They have had to make an extremely hard decision with regards to the shop over the weekend.

In a short statement they said “Unfortunately, we just aren't bringing enough money in to make the shop financially viable anymore.”

The family run business said they have tried to give it as long as they possibly could before making the decision to close the Penrith shop.

Ruby Rae’s have not announced closing date yet as they are waiting to hear from the landlord of the Poets Walk shop but hope to remain open for a few more weeks so that can clear as much stock as possibly.

The business is hoping to move to an online operation and set a website to sell online, although they have no firm plans for the move online yet.

Kat one half of the Mother and Daughter duo who run Ruby Rae’s said “My mum and I would just like to thank all of you who have been into the shop over the 2 years we have been open and supported us along the way.”

“Hopefully this is not a permanent end to Ruby Rae's, just a change to how we will work.”

The list of business closures in Penrith is growing with Banks, Building Societies and local and national retailers announcing closures over that last few weeks in the town that will see large parts of Penrith’s retail space empty March 2024.
