Two people were arrested at lunchtime today at Penrith Train Station by Cumbria Police, leading to a flurry of activity and capturing the attention of onlookers.
Police swiftly moved in, ultimately detaining a male and a female. Multiple bags and backpacks were also removed from the station by police as part of the operation.
Upon arrival at the train station's forecourt, two police cars and a police van quickly assembled, their presence causing a stir among passersby. Officers promptly entered the station, where they apprehended a male suspect. He was escorted out to one of the awaiting police vehicles under the watchful gaze of perplexed onlookers.
Shortly after a female was also taken into custody by Cumbria Police officers. She was placed into a second police vehicle.
Police officers then removed a number of bags and rucksacks from within the station, transferring them to a third police vehicle.
The motive behind the arrests and the contents of the confiscated bags remain undisclosed.
Cumbria Police have been asked for a statement on the events at Penrith Station this lunchtime and will provide updates as soon as their statement is released.
