A 33 year old woman from the Penrith area will face trial later this year after pleading not guilty at Carlisle Magistrates Court today (8th January) where she was appearing following her arrest in Penrith during a police drink-driving crackdown in December.
Cumbria Police said officers taking part in Operation Limit received information that a woman may be driving under the influence of alcohol in the Penrith area. The vehicle was located being driven through the town and was stopped by officers during the December operation.
The driver, Victoria Jackson-Briscoe, 33, told officers she had consumed a glass of wine. Police allege that she then failed to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and was arrested at the roadside.
Jackson-Briscoe appearing at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 8 January 2026, entered a plea of not guilty. Her solicitor told the court that medical reports would be submitted for consideration by the court.
Magistrates set the matter down for trial on Monday 11 May 2026 at 10am. Jackson-Briscoe was released on unconditional bail to appear on that date.
She was warned by the judge that failing to attend court for the trial could result in additional charges being brought against her for contempt of court.
