Police and Trading Standards have searched a Penrith store on Thursday following ‘intelligence’ gathered by Eden Neighbourhood Police team during visits earlier this week to local retail premises as part of the forces safer streets campaign. concerns were raised with Sergeant Bennet when he was visiting another local retailer about suspicious activity at a store in Penrith.
The store was subjected to a 'thorough search' by trading
standards officers, who were alerted to suspicious activity by Eden
Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Following the search Cumbria Police have confirmed it was
'negative' with nothing found in the store linked to the concerns raised.
Cumbria Police said: "Yesterday (Thursday, 31st July),
thanks to intelligence gathered by Eden NPT Sergeant Bennet during visits to
local retail premises, concerns were raised about suspicious activity at a
store in Penrith.
"This information was swiftly shared with our partners
in Trading Standards.”

carried out a thorough search of the premises. While the search was negative on
this occasion, we remain committed to monitoring businesses comply with trading
standards legislation.”
