The NORAD Santa tracker is live and you can find out where Santa is right now.

It's Christmas Eve, which means one thing for children big and small. Father Christmas is on his way, and he's bringing presents.

As the global air lift from the North Pole begins NORAD will be tracking Santas progress and so can you.

The NORAD Santa tracker has just launched so you can keep up to date with his travels. In a short statement Mr Claus “It's a busy night for us all as we set off on an estimated journey of 510,000,000 km at approximately 1,800 miles per second.

Tonight, families will leave out mince pies and a glass of sherry or milk for me to enjoy as I visits houses around the world. Carrot sticks are also left out for my reindeer Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen.

I will be visiting Penrith at just after midnight to deliver presents to all who are on the nice list, this year that appears to be most of Penrith the Elf’s have said Ho Ho Ho.”

The NORAD Santa tracker began in 1955 in America, after an advertisement misprinted the telephone number for children to call Santa.

Instead of reaching Santa, the phone number put kids through to NORAD. The Director of Operations at the time, Colonel Harry Shoup, had his staff check the radar for indications of Santa making his way south from the North Pole. Children who called were given updates on his location, and the tracker was born.

Before it became an interactive tool, children could find out where Santa was by calling the NORAD hotline in December. You can monitor Santa and Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen’s progress as he approaches Penrith on his global journey on the NORAD Santa tracker via https://www.noradsanta.org/en/
