Storm Jocelyn Yellow Weather Warning extended into Early Evening as Wind Speeds Reaches 77mph At Shap

The 10th named storm of the season is not over yet as the Met Office Yellow Weather Warning for Cumbria and the North for Wednesday is extended to 4pm.

Strong winds in association with Storm Jocelyn are set to continuing across northern parts of the UK into early evening, but gradually easing from the west. Winds are widely expected to gust 55-65 mph, with a few exposed locations and over high ground possibly seeing in excess of 70 mph. Gusts of 55-65 mph are fairly typical for a winter storm across these areas, but following the impacts caused by Storm Isha resilience is expected to be lower and it may also hamper any ongoing recovery and repair efforts.

The Met Office said wind gusts reached 77mph at Shap overnight.

The A66 remains closed to all vehicles due to the strong winds National Highway have said.
