Police Warn Residents to be Extra Vigilant Following Spate Of Burglaries in Penrith
Cumbria Police are warning local residents to be extra vigilant and ensure basic crime security measures are put in place following an increase in burglaries in the Penrith and Eden area this week.
There has been reported attempt break-ins on the Scaws area of Penrith on the afternoon of the 9th October and overnight between 10th and 11th there has been break ins on Park Close in Penrith.
Sheds in Penruddock and Shap have also been broken into where sheep scales and hurles and an off road bike were stolen.
A GPS tracker has been stolen from a tractor on a farm near Armathwaite.
Cumbria Police are recommending residents put in place basic crime security measures are such as:
Keeping doors locked even if you are in
Keeping valuables out of sight
Keep security lights switched on
Keep a light on indoors if you are out for the evening
Making sure outhouses are securely locked
Do not let people you don’t know in your home
Keep keys somewhere safe
If you have alarms or CCTV make sure they are in working order with warning signs clearly displayed
If you spot any suspicious activity Cumbria Police have said that if you think a crime is in progress ring 999
Cumbria Polce have also made a request for any information that may help them with the most recent burglaries.
