Police Give Update on Penrith Drugs Raid and Arrests

Cumbria Police have given an update on last Fridays early morning drugs raid on a Penrith Property when officers from Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team assisted by officers from the Tactical Support Group and dog section, carried out the early morning warrant under the misuse of drugs act, at a property on Tyne Close Terrace, Penrith on Friday 16 February.

Officers searched the property and seized a quantity of cash and drugs paraphernalia resulting in a man in his thirties been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. He has been bailed while police enquiries continue.

Later in the day last Friday a vehicle was stopped by police that was believed to be transporting drugs to the Tyne Close Terrace area.

A large quantity of white powder was located inside the vehicle and seized. A man in his thirties was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. He has also been bailed while police enquiries continue.

This followed five arrests at the end of January during a separate warrant in the Appleby area.

The seizures form part of Operation Alliance - Cumbria Constabulary’s ongoing response to protect the county against serious and organised crime.

Inspector Mo Bibby, Eden NPT, who led the warrants, said: “These warrants and searches have been conducted as part of our ongoing efforts to target and disrupt drug supply within our communities.

“I would like to thank local residents across Eden for their patience whilst we have carried out enquiries and for their support in reporting these issues to us.

“Information we receive from the community is vital to help us build intelligence on drug use and take action against any illegal activity in our neighbourhoods.
