Plans Submitted to Make Two Houses from Fire-Damaged Great Dockray Buildings

A planning application has been submitted to Westmorland and Furness Council seeking permission to convert historic buildings at Nevison Yard on Great Dockray into two homes.

The site lies within Penrith’s conservation area and includes a Grade II-listed cottage fronting Great Dockray, along with attached rear buildings. According to documents submitted with the application, parts of the property have previously suffered fire damage and are now in need of repair due to long term deterioration of the buildings.

The buildings form part of the layout of Great Dockray with, parts of the buildings previously used as storage space by the neighbouring now closed Vases Store.

The application submitted to Westmorland and Furness Council proposes repairing and refurbishing the structures and converting them into two residential dwellings. A heritage statement accompanying the plans outlines the applicants intention to retain and restore original features where possible as part of the works.

The proposal is now open for public consultation through the council’s planning portal, where full details of the scheme can be viewed and comments submitted. View plans here
