Plans Submitted for first stage of eight-year Refurbishment at Center Parcs

Center Parks have submitted plans to Westmorland and Furness Council for the first stage of an eight-year refurbishment programme at Center Parcs has been submitted.

The stage of the refurbishment programme will see upgrades to the external areas of 107 of the current 861 guest lodges at the Penrith Whinfell Forest site including extended patio areas and bike storage along with enhanced BBQ areas.

The planning agent for the company said: "The proposed external landscaping works are intended to provide an improved guest experience specifically to the lodge accommodation”.

“Center Parcs is a major local employer and has an obligation to continually improve its operation and building stock in order to maintain its position in the market”.

“The proposed improvement to the external areas will help in the continuation of the popular holiday destination”.

The plans may require a total of 30 trees to be removed at the Whinfell Forest site.

The company has said it will mitigate through the planting of a substantial number of new trees on the site as part of Center Parcs ongoing commitment to tree planting throughout the site.

The application as part of a long-term plan for the Penrith Whinfell Forest site comes just weeks after Center Parcs submitted an application to build its first new site in the UK in six years in the Scottish borders to create the companies first site in Scotland.
