Penrith Morrisons Petrol Station closed due to incident

Penrith’s Morrisons Petrol Station is currently closed following and incident that has resulted in power having to be cut to the property.

One appliance from Penrith Fire Station was mobilised to Morrisons Petrol station in the early hours of this morning due to alarms sounding from a potential vapour leak from the fuel pumps.

Fire crews alongside Cumbria Police put a cordon in place and then donned breathing apparatus and using gas checking equipment carried out an investigation.

All readings from Cumbria Fire services gas monitor came back zero.

Emergency services hand the incident back over to the store manager, leaving the cordon in place until engineers have deem it safe to reopen.

The forecourt shop and back parking area all remain taped off and staff have said they “have no current idea when the petrol station will be reopened currently following the incident.”
