In a historic act of calling his first general election King Charles III has today issued a writ notifying councils that Parliament has been dissolved and that a General Election will be held on the 4th of July.

Following the official writ issued by the King returning officers across the UK at local councils must now publish a Notice of Election.

The notice of election was published for the new Penrith and Solway Constituency, by Cumberland Council who are responsible for administering the election and count for the new constituency marking the official start to the General Election.
