Penrith Cumbria and the UK wakes up today with a changed political landscape following the results from the General Election that came in overnight.
Labour have seen a landslide win across the UK that was reflected in Cumbria that for the first time since the 1930’s now has no Conservatives MP’s with all but one seat turning Red as Labour won seat after seat including the new Penrith and Solway Constituency won by Markus Campbell-Savours.
Despite the huge losses for the Conservatives across Cumbria and the UK the former Penrith and The Border MP Neil Hudson who failed to be selected by the Conservatives to stand in the Penrith and Solway Constituency travelled South and has won the Epping Forest seat to become the new Conservative MP with 18,038 votes almost a 6,000 lead over the labour candidate in the seat.
Layer today Labour will see the keys to No10 handed to Keir Starmer who will be one the UK’s 58th Prime Minister and the 5th labour Prime Minister.
