Man Arrested in Clifton After Police Search Jailed Ahead of Deportation

A 31year old Albanian man who was arrested in May in Clifton after entering the UK illegally after he had previously been subject to deportations for entering the UK illegally has appeared in court in Carlisle this week. The man admitted to a breach of a previous deportation order and entering the UK illegally again in May this year. 

He was stopped by the police travelling on the A6 South of Penrith in a car with another Albanian man.

The Vehicle was stopped by police just before 3.30pm the 1st of May on the A6 southbound from Penrith near Clifton leading to both men fleeing on foot from the police along the road and into fields around Clifton.

Leading to a search in and around the village of Clifton involving a number of police vehicles and officers. The police search was witnessed by parents and children from Clifton Primary school who were leaving school at the time along with local residents.

Police searched gardens, hedgerows and under vehicles in the southern part of Clifton where pair had been seen by members of the community heading towards the west coast main line were police eventually stopped and arrested the pair.

Appearing before Carlisle Crown Court this week the 31 year old was jailed for 20 months ahead of been deported from the UK.
