As the Penrith.Town team begin our coverage of the 2024 general election, we have one priority above all else, and that is you the voters.
The election is your choice and yours alone of who you vote for.
Our job is to provide you with the facts and information you need to make up your own mind from the candidates standing in the Penrith and Solway Constituency.
The full list of confirmed valid candidates will be known on or just after the 6th of June following the close of nominations. Once we have the confirmed candidates, we will be inviting all candidates to provide a statement on why they are standing to be the areas new MP and what their manifesto will do for you and Penrith.
Penrith.Town will in collaborating local partners be hosting a GE2024 Hustings during the elections giving you the opportunity to hear direct form candidates and ask them questions directly on issues that are important to you.
Penrith.Town is committed to remaining neutral in all our election coverage, unlike other media local and national Penrith.Town does not and will not pick sides in the election.
We are here for everyone, however they cast your ballot. Because it’s not our job to tell people what to think or who to vote for on July 4th.
We will strive to serve you our audiences, however you consuming our Hyperlocal news service and however you choose to vote on July 4th.
We want to be useful and used by you to get the information you need to make up your own choice.
We know that your trust is earned so during this election campaign our pledge to you is that we will work even harder to earn and maintain the trust you place in us to bring you Hyperlocal news relevant to Penrith and the local area.
Elections can be chaotic and confusing, with so many claims and counter-claims. We will cut through the noise to bring you clarity on the important issues. We know that disinformation will be a factor in this election like never before, so we will bring you PTN Verify that will look at the claims and separate fact from fake.
But in covering the general election and making it the questions we ask and the articles we publish relevant to you and Penrith, we need something from you too.
