Going Going but not gone Agricultural Hotel NOT sold at auction despite bid price of £290,000

The Agricultural Hotel in Penrith has this afternoon gone under the hammer at a property auction held in Carlisle.

 

The auction took place in a packed auction room at the Halston Hotel in Carlisle with the Agricultural Hotel listed as lot 46.

 

The Auction commenced at 12noon with a mix of properties across Cumbria going under than hammer today including a 2 bedroom flats in Barrow in Furness that sold today for just £11,000.

 

Auction House Cumbria auctioneer Colin West opened the bidding for the Agricultural Hotel with the first bid made for £200,000

A bidding battle commenced with bidders in the room on the internet battling it out with the hammer finally falling on the auction of the Agricultural Hotel at the bid price of £290,000. The auctioneer was unable to sell at the bid price.

 

The Auction comes as an attempt to register the Agricultural Hotel as a community asset is underway submitted by the Solway CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale) branch. Westmorland and Furness Council are expected to make a decision on the registration shortly after Penrith Town Council voted to support the application.
