Monday will see the start of works by Northern Gas Networks on the third and final stage of the eight week gas mains replacement work in Penrith that started on the 3rd of January with the closure of Brunswick Road and part of Middlegate.

The final stage will now see King Street closed from Market Square to the junction with Crown Square. The closure will be in place from 8am Monday the 5th February until the 8th March 2024.

The section of Middlegate and Devonshire Street currently closed for gas mains works is due to reopen to traffic on Monday evening.

Westmorland and Furness Council have also out in place an additional road closure in Penrith from Monday morning.

Work will take place on the 'One-Way System' of the U3540 outside Ashberry Guest House, Southend Road to allow drainage improvements to be carried out on the carriageway.

The section of road will be closed between the 5th and 9th of February. The closure is not expected to impact traffic in the town due to the location of the works.
