Election Time as Notices of Election Published

May 2nd a date many had expected would see a UK General Election held will see elections take place in Penrith and across Cumbria after Westmorland and Furness Council today published three election notices for elections that will take place on Thursday 2nd May 2024.

A By Election to fill a vacant seat on Penrith Town Council for Penrith West following the resignation in January of one of the former town councillors for Penrith West.

Multiple parish council elections will also be held in the former South Lakeland area.

A By election to fill a vacant seat on Westmorland and Furness Council for the Grange and Carmel ward following a resignation last week by one of the former councillors for the ward.

The notice of election for the Cumbria Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner has also been issued with the election to take place also on the 2nd  of May 2024.

Those wishing to stand as candidates in any of the council elections have until 4pm on Friday 5th April to hand in nomination papers.

Prospective Candidates for the Cumbria PFCC election Nomination papers must be delivered to the Police Area Returning Officer at Allerdale House, New Bridge Road, Workington CA14 3YJ between 10am and 4pm no later than 4pm on Friday, 5th April 2024 with a £5,000 deposit must be paid by each candidate to stand in the Police Fire and Crime Commission election.
