NS&I have announced their high value winners for December and for six people in Cumbria Decembers draw has kicked off Christmas for them already.
A total of 5,817,845 prizes worth £473,427,175 will be paid out in the December 2023 prize draw. There were over 122 billion Bond numbers eligible for the draw. Since the first draw in June 1957, ERNIE has drawn 660.4 million prizes with a total value of £28.7 billion.
ERNIE, is the Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment, is the power behind Premium Bonds. Using light, ERNIE 5 generates random numbers that are matched against eligible Bond numbers to determine the lucky winners. And because it’s random, every Bond number, whether it has 8, 9, 10 or 11 digits, has a separate and equal chance of winning a prize.
The numbers ERNIE selected for December’s draw means that two new Millionaires are kicking off the festive season in style with this December as two Premium Bonds jackpot winners in York and Essex have won the last two £1 million jackpots of the year.
Cumbria has not missed out as amongst the draw winners, there is one lucky Cumbrian who has won the £100,000 prize, so be sure to check your bonds to find out if you are the winner. There are also five winners of the £25,000 prize from Cumbria, one of which was purchased all the way back in 1997 so these may have been forgotten about!
The winner of the £100,000 purchased their bonds in July 2020 with the winning bond number of 403GJ471963.
