Drugs Warrant and Early Morning Raid in Penrith Leads to Arrest

Cumbria Police have carried out an early morning drugs raid in Penrith this morning that has led to the arrest of male who is now in Police Custody.

The raid and arrest of a male followed the issuing and executing of a drugs warrant for a property in Penrith by Cumbria Police. With the raid resulting in a positive search with drugs recovered by officers.

Todays raid in Penrith comes just hours after another man was charged after officers stopped a vehicle on the M6 near Tebay on Tuesday (15 August).

During the search of the vehicle Police seized 10kg of Amphetamine, 20 blocks of Cannabis resin and 675g of suspected Mephedrone from the vehicle, with a combined street value of over £100,000.

The man arrested on the M6 on Tuesday was in his 40’s from Merseyside and was charged with possession with intent to supply Amphetamine and possession with intent to supply Cannabis.

The seizure and raids forms part of forms part of Operation Alliance. Cumbria Constabulary’s ongoing response to protect the county against serious and organised crime.

Cumbria Police have said “We won't tolerate drug dealing in our community and the ruined lives, crime and disorder that it causes.”
