Drugs arrest following police operation around St Andrews Church yard


Cumbria Police have arrested a male for possession with intent to supply controlled drugs in the area around St Andrews Church in Penrith.



The arrest was made after members of the public raised concerns with police about people dealing drugs in the area around St Andrews Church.


Cumbria police had consulted with local residents to understand more about the problem and taken action to increase the amount of foot patrols in the area at the relevant times.

Police also conducted plain clothes patrols around the church yard and the wider Town Centre area.

As part of the operation police also conducted stop searches and premises searches


During the operation to address the drugs issue around St Andrews Church area, Police arrested a male for possession with intent to supply controlled drugs, Police also seized cash, drugs and mobile phones


Cumbria Police said in a statement “We are continuing to monitor the situation and will continue to take action against those dealing drugs and acting anti socially in Penrith Town.”
