Cumbria Police issue Section 35 Dispersal order in Penrith

Cumbria Police ask “parents do you know were your children are” as they issue section 35 dispersal order following a significant amount of youth Anti-Social Behaviour in Penrith around Castle Park  / Ullswater Road and Cromwell Road on Thursday evening.

Cumbria Police have put in a Section 35 Dispersal order for the area around Castle Park where some anti social behaviour took place. Please tell your young people to respect the area where they live so everyone can enjoy it and feel safe.

The order issued by Cumbria Police will remain in place until 5pm on Sunday 22nd July 2023 and covers the area of Castle Park, Penrith Railway Station and McDonald's.

Any youths causing Anti-Social Behaviour in this area will be dispersed by officers. 

Cumbria Police have said “if they breach the dispersal, they may be arrested.” 

“We want to see our younger population enjoy the start of the school holidays safely but we must ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone else in the locality as well.”

Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 gives a Police Constable and a Police Community Support Officer in uniform the power to exclude a person from an area for a period of up to 48 hours with an Inspector's authority.

Cumbria police recently announced it had identified the CastlePark and Ullswater road area as a hotspot for Anti social behaviour and that the force was stepping up patrols and actions to combat the increase in the area.
