Critically Acclaimed Penrith Composer Launches Debut Album with Penrith Concert

Critically acclaimed Penrith composer, Ella Jarman-Pinto, and poet, Jo Brandon, are due to celebrate the release of their debut album ‘Lemon Verbena’ with a concert on the 15th of June.

Ella Jarman-Pinto, a critically acclaimed composer from Penrith, described by Classic FM as ‘one of the UK’s most exciting music-makers’ has announced the release and performance of ‘Lemon Verbena’, on Saturday 15th June at BlueJam Arts Space in Penrith. ‘Lemon Verbena’, co-created with poet, Jo Brandon, explores legendary women throughout history, and the way that they used various eccentricities to escape the confines of society.

The album was written at Benjamin Britten’s house as part of a Wild Plum Arts residency; funded by PRS Foundation and wonderful Kickstarter supporters; and recorded at Penrith’s The Studio at Sunbeams, by Ella and local pianist Katharine May. 

Ella’s music has been featured in two multi-award winning films, ‘AstraZeneca - The Attack’, and ‘The Fell We Climb’ and she is currently scoring feature-length documentary, ‘Raising Aniya’.

Jo Brandon is a widely published poet and librettist based in the North of England, Her last collection, Cures, was featured in The Telegraph and her poetry and short stories have featured in a number of literary magazines.

The Penrith concert is the only opportunity to hear Ella and Katharine perform ‘Lemon Verbena’ live, and will feature a Q&A session, key information about each of the women behind the songs, and exclusive CD sales.

Ella said “This has been a labour of love over the past three years and I am absolutely overjoyed to be able to share these songs that Jo and I have poured our hearts and souls into! I love the atmosphere at BlueJam Arts’ concerts and think that the intimate setting will be perfect to send these songs out into the world,”

The ‘Lemon Verbena’ Album Launch Concert will take place on Saturday 15th June, 7pm at BlueJam Arts Space, Mostyn Hall, Penrith CA11 7XR
