Council Close Penrith Roads with Emergency Traffic Regulations.

Westmorland & Furness Council has put in an emergency traffic restriction following a request by Cumbria Police to prohibit vehicles from entering/exiting the junction of Brunswick Terrace and Brunswick Square Penrith.

The emergency traffic restrictions are because of the likelihood of danger to the public, as a result of the increased traffic flow due to vehicles using Brunswick Terrace and Brunswick Square and contravening the No Entry restriction and avoiding diversion routes in place to facilitate the ongoing gar mains work in Penrith.

Police have this week been forced to issue tickets to driver driving through the no entry signs into Brunswick Square and Terrace causing a risk of accident and committing highways offences.

The emergency notice will be in force for a period of up to 21 days from 12 January 2024, and when the relevant signs are displayed.

Westmorland and Furness Council anticipated that the restriction will be required for 2 weeks.
