Community-Centric Approach in Developing New Community Plan for Penrith

Evolve Penrith, a local community enabling organisation, is embarking on an exciting project to shape the future of Penrith through a community-led approach. They are currently working on the creation of a new Penrith Community Plan, designed by the community and for the community. This plan aims to address local needs, aspirations, and challenges while fostering a vibrant and inclusive environment.


To ensure a diverse range of perspectives and ideas are taken into account, Evolve Penrith has initiated a place-based assessment. This assessment serves as a baseline for the development of the community plan, gathering views on a wide array of local topics. A spokes person for Evolve Penrith said “The data collected through the online survey, open until September 30, 2023, will be crucial in understanding the current state of Penrith and identifying areas for improvement.”

The survey is an opportunity for everyone to have their voices heard, contributing to the shaping of a community plan that reflects the diverse needs and aspirations of the local population.


In addition to the online survey, Evolve Penrith is hosting a community plan event in October, The event will allow residents to engage directly with the organisation and share their thoughts and ideas in person. It promises to be an inclusive gathering, fostering open dialogue and collaboration among community members.


Creating a Plan for a Thriving Penrith


The new Penrith Community Plan members of Evolve Penrith are working with members of the community to create aims to be a living document that reflects the dynamic needs of the community. By involving local residents in its development, Evolve Penrith seeks to create a blueprint for a thriving, sustainable, and inclusive Penrith.


As the plan is community-led, it will address a range of local topics, including but not limited to:


1. Infrastructure and Transportation: Improving transportation options, enhancing existing infrastructure, and developing new amenities to cater to the growing needs of Penrith.


2. Housing and Urban Development: Ensuring affordable and accessible housing options for all residents while maintaining the town's unique character.


3. Education and Healthcare: Enhancing educational facilities and healthcare services to nurture a healthy and well-educated community.


4. Economic Development: Fostering economic growth, supporting local businesses, and creating job opportunities to boost prosperity.


5. Social and Cultural Integration: Encouraging community events, promoting diversity, and fostering social cohesion to strengthen the fabric of Penrith.
