Changes To Council Carpark Charges from April with most set to Increase

April 1st will see increasing car parking charges in most Westmorland and Furness carparks in Penrith. The council has issued notice that it will increase charges in all but one of its Penrith carparks with Blue Bell Lane, Sandgate, Drovers Lane and Mansion House (available weekends only) 1 hours parking will increase to £1.70, 2 hours will increase to £2.40, 4 hours will increase to £4.20 and up to 10 hours will be increased to £5.90.

With Sundays and bank holidays increasing to £1.20 for all parking periods.

But one carpark is according to the official notice issued by the Westmorland and Furness Legal and Monitoring officer on the 8th of March undergoing a change with lower parking charges and longer parking times available.

Princes Street Carpark has been a short stay carpark with times limited to a maximum of 2 hours.

Westmorland and Furness Council have announced changes in its notice of parking charges removing the 1 hour charge option and introducing a 2 hour and a 10 hour parking charge only in the carpark.

The charges will make parking in Princes Street Carpark substantially lower than the councils other Penrith carparks with 2 hours parking in Princes Street to be just £1.70 and up to 10 hours parking will be charged at just £2.60 compared to the £5.90 in the council's other carparks in Penrith.

With Sunday’s and Bank Holidays charged at £1.20 like the other car parks in Penrith.

2 hours parking in Princes Street car park is currently £2.40 with 1 hour costing £1.50 until the 1st of April.

The charges will continue to apply in all carparks between 8am and 6pm with parking outside those times free.
