By Election to fill Vacant Penrith West Seat on Penrith Town Council

A By Election is to be held elect a new town councillor to fill the vacant Penrith West seat on Penrith Town Council.

Following the resignation of the former Penrith West town councillor in January Westmorland and Furness Council have received and accepted a valid request for an election for Penrith West Ward to fill the vacant seat.

Westmorland and Furness Council as the Principal Authority have opted to exercise the maximum 60 day period to hold an election so that thePenrith West Ward By-election aligns with the PFCC election on 2nd May.

This will reduce the direct cost of the town council by election that would have cost approximately £10,000 to hold as a stand-alone by-election.

Westmorland and Furness Council is expected to publish an official notice of election and further information on how candidates can submit nominations over the next few days.
