The Stagecoach 104 Bus has today shocked some locals in Penrith after the driver of the bus attempted to take the service bus along Queen street to avoid the road closure on Middlegate.
Stagecoach had rerouted the 104 and other bus services for the duration of the Gas. mains works that have closed roads through the town centre.
Stagecoach has said “The 104 service inbound to Penrith from Carlisle will turn left onto Portland Place, and then turn right onto Meeting House Lane. The service will then turn right into Penrith Bus Station as normal. The bus stops that will be missed out are Town hall and Middlegate. From Penrith Bus Station to Center Parcs, the 104 service will operate as normal.”
Today it appears that one driver never received the memo and attempted to take the 104 bus along the narrow road on Queen street with its tight corner to gain access to Middlegate.
A second bus on Tuesday evening seen reversing backward along Queen street having tried to take the same route unsuccessfully.
