Another Blow for Penrith as The Works Announces Closure?

Devonshire Street based shop, The Works has announced it is to close its doors for good in April.

The company had previously said it is looking for potential alternative premises, but told Penrith.Town in December it had looked for an alternative suitable retail unit but it claimed had been unable to locate one in Penrith.

The Devonshire Street shop has been on the rental market for months with May as the available from date listed with the agent. The shop unit had an annual rental price of £18,000 plus vat and a rateable value of £23,750.

The Works is latest in a rapidly growing list of business to close in Penrith with more closures announced for Penrith by April including three banks and other retailers in the town along with some who have already closed down since the start of 2024
