This years Skelton show the 128th delivered a packed day with something for everyone today (Saturday 6th June) at Hutton in the Forest the fields quickly filled with cars as the crowds descended on the 2024 Skelton Show with the Penrith Rotary members o hand to guide everyone to a parking spot.
Issues with the internet and mobile signals prevented card payment forcing people to use cash around the shows range of trade stands and food stalls offering everything including Zebra Burgers.
Skelton Show even had Lions this year in the shape of ‘Leo the Lion’ been handed out by the Leo Group one of the show’s sponsors with its Robinson Mitchel Fallen Stock business.
The show offered a day packed with Entertainment, Food, Ice cream, Farm equipment, Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Dogs, Crafts, Prize winning veg and even delivered the Sun accompanied by Penrith Town Band.
Diddly Squat farm even made an appearance at Skelton Show in the form of a Lego entry in one of the creative and craft categories in the industrial marquee along with a varied collection of creative and craft skills on display entered by people from across the local area including cakes, flowers needle craft, jams through to children’s crafts and paintings on display having been judged and some warded the prized first, second, third and fourth awards for each category.
A parade of tractors around the main arena showed of a wide range of tractors spanning the decades to the crowd of spectators along with the displays of cattle, horses and dogs.
As the main days events started to wrap up at 4pm the fun of Skelton Show continued as a big screen next to the beer tent was laid on to allow people to stay and watch the football this evening before the Young farmer ticket only dance this evening at the show ground gets underway.
The volunteers who work hard every year to put on Skelton Show, will take a well-earned rest for a few hours before they start the hard work of planning and organising Skelton Show 2025 with planning for next year getting underway as soon as this years show is over.
