Yellow Weather Warnings Remain for Penrith and Cumbria until Monday Evening

The Met office has extended Yellow Weather warning for the area through until 5pm on Monday with Ice remaining a hazard through Sunday morning, making for difficult travel conditions. A weather warning remains in place for Penrith and Cumbria until 11am on Sunday morning a second weather warning is also in place for Ice and Snow through until 5pm Monday covering the North of England with Icy patches likely to develop this evening and overnight leading to difficult travel conditions though out Monday across the region.

Local temperatures are not expected to get above -1 throughout Sunday with overnight temperatures of -5 forecast heading into Monday with temperatures for Monday forecast not to get above zero all day.

Cumbria Police has said “Yesterday, we saw challenging road conditions across the county due to heavy snowfall and we continue to ask motorists to travel only if necessary and would urge people not to travel to the county.”
