Two Fire Engines from Penrith Respond to M6 Van Fire

Just after 3pm this afternoon (Monday 10th June), two fire engines from Penrith fire station were mobilised in response to a vehicle fire on the M6 Northbound between J41-J42.

On arrival fire crews found a transit van with a trailer attached on the hard shoulder with the front of the van already ablaze.

Two fire fighters quickly got to work with a hose reel jet stopping the fire from spreading into the rear storage area of the van.

Crews remained on scene for just over an hour with two lanes of the M6 closed to traffic to allow fire crews and recovery work to be carried out safely.
