Tractor Run in Memory of Lucy Raises Thousands for Children’s Cancer North Charity

Last Sunday the roads around Penrith were filled with 150 festive tractors taking part in the Lights for Lucy festive tractor run through villages around Penrith before travelling over Beacon edge and through parts of Penrith before gathering back a Penrith Auction Mart.

The event was organised by Tom Kirk to raise funds for the Children’s Cancer North Charity in memory of his sister Lucy.

Tom said “Words can’t describe how successful and how overwhelmed we are with the turnout of tractors and community support along the route.”

The roads through villages were lined with people cheering the parade of tractors along the route.

As the parade passed along Beacon edge the entire road across the Beacon was filled with a chain of light from the tractors that could be seen across Penrith.

Before the parade departed slightly later than planned from Penrith Auction due to the number of tractors that had turned out to take part in the parade the 150 tractors were judged by Olly Harrison known as Olly Blogs in the farming community and beyond for his YouTube videos and as a leading figure in the campaign against farming inheritance tax.

The results of the top 5 tractors judged by Olly were:

1st place Daniel Scott

2nd place Raymond tinkler

3rd place Mark fisher

4th place Aimee winder

5th place Jim Fisher

The total amount raised on the day was  £12024.80 with donations still coming in and donation collection bucket are available at Carr’s Billington in Penrith and also be a bucket at the Gavel at Penrith auction and the Fox Inn at Ousby and Ullswater community college.

Tom and his family have said “Thankyou to everyone for supporting the event”

“all the marshals and event organisers who did a fantastic job and also all the businesses who donated raffle prizes”

We would just like to say a special thanks to the following people who helped and supported the event

Penrith & District Farmers Mart, The Gavel, T R Roberts mechanical services, Adam Huggon, Coleman roofing, Metcalfe plant hire, Ian Cleasby
