Cumbria Police continues to work closely with partner agencies, including Electricity North West, to support affected communities and help coordinate the response to ongoing disruption caused by Storm Boelo.
Just under 10,000 properties across Cumbria have experienced power outages overnight, with Electricity North West working to restore supplies as quickly and as safely as possible.
Support is available for residents affected by power outages, with Electricity North West and partner agencies providing welfare assistance to vulnerable customers and those experiencing prolonged outages.
Details of welfare support available to affected residents can be found on the Electricity North West Storm Boelo information page.
With high winds expected to continue until later tonight, motorists are asked to take extra care if travelling.
Many of the roads impacted by high winds during the past 24 hours have been cleared.
However, Cumbria Police continues to receive reports of fallen trees and debris on roads across the county.
Police are asking people to only travel if necessary, allow extra time for their journeys and drive to the conditions. Be prepared for changing conditions, particularly on exposed routes and in rural areas, where debris, fallen trees and power outages may continue to affect travel.
Police are encouraging people to check in on vulnerable neighbours, friends and family members where possible, particularly if they have been affected by power outages. Ensuring they have access to essential medication, food and other supplies can make a significant difference while services are being restored.
