Town Hall Meeting for New Penrith Cemetery Group

A meeting of the newly formed group Friends of Penrith Cemetery is set to take pace on Monday afternoon at Penrith Town Hall.
The group formed following a meeting held in July between members of the community and local organisations and Westmorland and Furness Council officers after the council had installed what council’s installation of two rows of concrete flagstones that to many appeared to be steps.
However, it emerged the concrete flagstone construction is intended to form a new grave management system marking out plots and a location to mound gravestones along the new plots.
The group in its meeting in July got the council to agree to pause any further works pending further discussions and the forming of the Friends of Penrith Cemetery group.
Westmorland and Furness Council agreed to host the meeting at Penrith Town Hall that has been set to take place on Monday the 4th of September at 2pm.
The invitation is open to all to attend and become part of the Friends of Penrith Cemetery Group.
