Plenty to look out for if you have to travel this morning

Main roads are covered with fallen branches and trees including on the motorway and floods are impacting many of the roads.

A number of recovery operations are underway to recover wagons on their side on The M6 and other roads in the area.

The A66 remains closed in both directions to all vehicles between Scotch Corner and the M6. Several overturned lorries need to be recovered before the road can be reopened

The advice from Westmorland and Furness is to only travel if essential this morning.


On the trains Avanti WestCoast have said that due to the severe weather from Storm Isha, there may be some changes and delays to its services today (Monday 22 January). Additionally, services to and from Scotland will start from 09:00. Advice is to check before you travel.


M6 South Closed.

The M6 is closed southbound between J39 (Shap) and J38 (Tebay) to allow for recovery of multiple lorries which have overturned due to Storm Isha.

Recovery resources are now in attendance.National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.

M6 North at Carlisle is also closed with diversions for recovery work.


Road Closed - MileLane

MileLane is currently blocked due to work underway to clear fallen trees at the south end of the road.

There is also flooding along the length of the Lane.

Vehicles are having to turn around due to the entrance/exit onto the A66 been blocked at the Golf Hub.
