Penrith third most dangerous small town in Cumbria crime data reveals.

Crime data for Penrith over the last two years shows Penrith as the third most dangerous small town in Cumbria, With Whitehaven the most dangerous and Maryport as the second most dangerous just topping Penrith that is the 252nd most dangerous small town in the UK, and the 1,476th most dangerous location out of all towns, cities, and villages.

The figures that have put Penrith as the third most dangerous small town in Cumbria also show crime in Penrith at 42% higher than the North West regional crime rate.

The highest rate offence in Penrith over the last two years was violence and sexual offences and the least common crime in Penrith is bicycle theft.

The most recent public crime data shows that in December 2022 133 crimes were logged in the parish or Penrith.

The breakdown of the reported crimes during Dec 2022 for Penrith shows that Violent and sexual offences accounted for 63 crimes,
Antisocial Behaviour 18 crimes, shoplifting 12, Public Order offences 12, other theft 8, Criminal Damage and Arson 6, Drugs 5, possession of Weapons 3, other crimes 3, Vehicle Crimes 2 and Burglaries 1.
Police also carried out 39 Stop and Searches in Penrith relating to drugs, weapons and theft in December 2022.

Crime figures show that across Cumbria violent crime has increased by 11.2% in the period of January 2022 - December 2022 when compared year-over-year.
The figures put Cumbria as the 26 highest Violent crime rate out of 56 areas with Greater London at 48. Violent Crime across Cumbria has seen a sharp increase since 2016 with Penrith crime figures showing the same rise since 2016.
