David Walmsley will arrive in Penrith on Monday evening having completed his 13th Marathon in 13 days for a well-earned rest overnight in Penrith courtesy of Norcroft Guest House who are providing David with his overnight accommodation to recover from the 26.2 mile Marathon from Gretna to Penrith.
Crewsaders crew chief David Walmsley embarked on his extraordinary journey to complete 30 full marathons in 30 consecutive days on the st of April. Travelling from the Isle of Skye to London, the initiative aims to raise vital funds and awareness for mental health support, benefiting charities including MIND, Scottish Action for Mental Health, and events entertainment industry charity Backup Tech.
When David arrives in Penrith on Monday traveling South along the A6 into Penrith he will have already completed 13 Marathons in as many days.
But after an evening relaxing in Penrith on Monday night courtesy of Norcroft Guest House David will set out on Tuesday morning on his 14th Marathon heading South through Penrith along the A6 via Cliffton and Shap on route to Sedbergh to complete his 14th Marathon.
The challenge is designed to shine a spotlight on the growing mental health pressures faced across industries and communities, particularly within high-demand sectors such as events and entertainment. Each of the 30 marathons, covering 42.2km per day, symbolises the resilience required by individuals who may be struggling silently, while encouraging open conversations, reducing stigma, and promoting access to support services.
