Major roads closed South of Penrith A6 over weekend and M6 next week

The A6 from Kemplay roundabout through Eamont Bridge is closed all weekend 13th - 14th May to all traffic. 

The closure is to enable Westmorland and Furness Council to carry out works on the A6.

Further weekend closures are planned next weekend and a 10mph speed restrictions will be in place on the section of road through next week as work is continued.

In addition to this week A6 closure and works National Highways will be carrying out a series of overnight carriageway closures between junctions 39 and 40 of the M6.

The closures are to implement traffic management measures on the M6 ahead of repair work to Lowther Bridge.

Overnight closures will take place between 8pm and 6am.

Northbound carriageway closures from junction 39 to 40 will be in-place on the following nights:

• Monday 15 May

• Tuesday 16 May

• Wednesday 17 May

• Wednesday 24 May

Southbound carriageway closures from junction 40 to 39 will be in place on the following nights:

• Thursday 18 May

• Friday 19 May

• Tuesday 23 May

Diversion routes will be in operation from J40 via the A66 and A6 between via Kemplay Roundabout and Shap.
