M6 Southbound Closed Tonight from 10pm as part of Lowther Bridge Repair Works

The M6 Southbound will be closed tonight (Sunday 9th November) between 10pm and 6am. The Southbound closures on the M6 will be in place between junction 40 Penrith and junction 39 at Shap overnight as the final part of a weekend of closures along the section on the M6 for ongoing work on Lowther Bridge.

The full southbound closure will be in place from 10pm to 6am, with clearly signed diversions via the A6 between Penrith and Shap. Speed reduction measures will be in operation along the A6 to help minimise disruption to nearby communities.

National Highways has warned that residents may notice some additional noise during the works.

A spokesperson said: “We’d like to apologise in advance for any disturbance caused. The planned closures can change at short notice.”
