National Highways are continuing advance works on the A66 between Rheged and Brougham the work includes vegetation clearance, strengthening the central reservation and installing new drainage. Some of this work will take place overnight and during weekends to minimise disruption.
Vegetation clearance is taking place across the project and will continue until the end of November. National Highways hope to complete the majority of the work using overnight lane closures to reduce impact to road users.
5 and 6 October: M6 junction 40 northbound entry slip closed, with a signed diversion via M6 junction 39
The A66 westbound carriageway between Brougham and Kemplay Bank roundabout has been reduced to one lane while we install drainage and prepare to strengthen the central reservation, just as we completed between M6 junction 40 and Kemplay Bank roundabout earlier this year.
To complete the work National Highways will implement the following restrictions between Kemplay Bank roundabout and Temple Sowerby:
